THE ENEMIES OF WOMEN’S LIBERATION IN THE ARTS WILL BE CRUSHED.
LOVE NANCY”
This piece speaks to the duality of my identity. The bone, sourced from a lamb hotpot restaurant, recalls the shagai, the sheep ankle-bone toy from my childhood. Written onto its surface is a letter from Nancy Spero to Lucy Lippard (a small shout-out to Christina and to my favorite art history professor, Molly Nesbit). The letter marks the feminist side of me. Beyond its Mongol associations, the bone’s hardness itself becomes symbolic, its toughness, combined with the letter’s message, holds the sense of conviction I carry toward the world and the future. Intentionally left out of the exhibition’s spatial mapping, this work functions as a bonus piece, inviting viewers to discover an additional layer of my narrative and beliefs.
这件作品体现了我对我的身份的双重认同。羊拐是我小时候玩得一个很“蒙古”的玩具,其实就是羊的踝骨。因为条件的局限性,我没有找到真正的羊拐,于是就从附近的羊蝎子火锅店收集了一些羊骨来完成这件作品。骨面上写的是 Nancy Spero 致 Lucy Lippard 的一封信(在这里感谢我的好朋友Christina和我最喜欢的艺术史教授Molly Nesbit)。这封信当然很明显的象征着我身上的女性主义一面。书写在骨头这样坚硬的质地也象征了我对世界与未来的信念与决心。我没有把这件作品放在展览的导图里,因此它更像是一个“彩蛋”,等待有缘观众的发现。
